Message From The East Feb 2019

As we move forward through the cold months of winter, I am reminded that spring is just around the corner. With spring comes the warmth and the light of the sun. We may have begun our lives in the cold and the dark, but Freemasonry has brought us to the light. Let us continue down that path of light and assist our Brethren from drifting back into the darkness. At our recent Officer’s Workshop, the question was asked, “What is the purpose of your Lodge?” While many answered this by saying to “Make good men better,” and “To make Masons,” The Officers of Lodge No. 43 were in unanimity by saying that we should advance our Brethren through education, charity, and fellowship.
I couldn’t agree more. While the Officer’s are here to help and guide the Lodge, it is the strength and the fraternal bond of the membership that can help us to accomplish any goal. Brethren, if you know of or see any Brother that may be drifting back into the darkness, please do your best to guide him back into the light. It is part of our obligation to help, aid, and assist, but this does not have to be done alone. The strength of our Lodge shown best when we work together. Whether it be through education, charity, or fellowship, we have the ability to keep ourselves and our Brethren in the light.

Fraternally,
Todd A. Bennicas, WM

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST: Jan 2019

Brethren, I am truly humbled and honored to address you for the first time as the Worshipful Master of Lodge No. 43. It has been an extremely rewarding experience for me to serve this Lodge in the past, and I am excited to continue to do so throughout 2019. There are very few Lodges that are still in existence that can trace their lineage back to 1785. Lodge No. 43 has been able to accomplish this not because of any one individual, but because we have always worked together in unanimity.

We truly are a band of brothers held together by the cement of love and affection. I am also proud to work with our current line of officers. Their hard work and dedication to the craft has positioned this Lodge to succeed once again. We have a lot of great programs and events planned for this year but they will only be successful with your help. Please do your best to always help your Brothers and to support this Lodge and all of its history and tradition. I look forward to seeing you all in 2019.

Fraternally,

Todd A. Bennicas, WM

Secretary of Lodge No.43 F&AM

Brethren, In reflecting on this year as Secretary of Lodge No.43 F&AM it occurred to me how very little I knew about the job when I was elected last December and it was only with the help and understanding of my Brothers that I was able to make it through. While there were many who helped me I’d like to give special thanks to Brothers Jason H. Lewis, Jeffrey S. Moyer, PM, James A. Malone, PM, L. Kenneth Bray, III, WM, all the other Officers of Lodge No. 43 F&AM and Assistant Secretary Bro. Clifford E. Fromm, without his efforts the Monthly Notices would not have been published.

I made some mistakes and I appreciate the understanding and patience that was provided to me. Thank you again to all my Brothers; it was my pleasure to serve as Secretary this year. I hope you all have a very Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!

Douglas M. Wiker, P.M., Secretary

The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania Masonic Charities Holiday Appeal

The approaching holiday season holds special meanings for us as Freemasons. Our philanthropy is what makes possible the outstanding services of the Masonic Charities that provide for our brethren and their families, the elderly and the youth, and our ability to reach out into the community to help our friends and neighbors. We show our charity as Freemasons through the vital programs and services of all the Masonic Charities.

As you reflect on the blessings in your life, consider the opportunity you have to benefit many, be part of a community and demonstrate the main principles of the fraternity; brotherly love, charity and truth.

If you are age 70 ½ or older, consider making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) this year to your favorite Masonic Charity – tax free! For the charitable distribution to be tax-free qualified, please have the check payable directly to the charity and not you the owner.

If you have not already supported the Masonic Charities this holiday season, please consider a charitable gift before the New Year. Please consider the needs addressed by the Masonic Charities and support the necessary programs and services that we make possible together.

There is still time to make a difference! Thank you for your support!

Message from the East – December 2018

Brethren, it is both an honor and privilege to have served this lodge as Worshipful Master for the last year.  I cannot stress enough the old saying “you get out of it, what you put into it”.  When I first joined this lodge, I was new, inexperienced, and knew absolutely nothing about the craft. I decided to make it my goal to learn as much as I could about this fraternity and to get as much value from my dues as I possibly could. Little did I realize where that journey would take me.

Freemasonry has shaped me into a better man through various avenues. Becoming a guide helped me overcome my fears of public speaking, and helped establish trust with my fellow brethren. By becoming a mentor it helped me establish life-long friendships and essentially taught me the value of teaching others. Becoming an officer of this lodge solidified the importance of the oath and obligations of each degree, and reminded me that a Mason is true to his word.

These are just a few of the many things I have learned over the last 7+ years. My hope is that each and every one of you takes full advantage of everything this fraternity has to offer and seek the value of your membership dues. Thank you for allow me to be a Steward of this lodge, and for carrying on the traditions of Lodge No. 43. I offer my sincerest best wishes to my friend and brother, Brother Todd A. Bennicas as he takes the East. I look forward to everything he has planned for the future of this lodge and trust we are in good hands.

I wish you and your family the very happiest of holidays!

Your Humble Servant, L. Kenneth Bray III WM
